Oh, to be a kid again...

We headed back down to the River this weekend. Because of all the rain this past week there was so much debris in the river. This meant that skiing was pretty much out of the question, so we made our own fun. Jason was the funniest, as he went down the slide and played in all the blow up toys.
We had a blast playing and Kate got spoiled by Libby and Jack.

Memorial Day Fun

First let me say that today I realized that Memorial Day to me means an extra day off work or a three day vacation but to so many others it is a day to remember their loved ones who fought and served our country. So I want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to those who serve and to the families who support and stand behind them.

This weekend we went down to the River. The Eastis Family is like my second family. Beth is one of my best friends and her parents and her extended family are like my own. They have a place at the Warrior River and we used to spend every extra second we had down there in college. You never go down there without enjoying GREAT food and fellowship - I have so many wonderful memories from this place. Today we took Kate down to the river for the first time.

It was a beautiful day but I think the sound of the motor and the refreshing breeze put Kate to sleep on her first boat ride!
Here is my sweet friend Beth holding Kate.
And here is her Dad, Jack, with Kate. Jack can cook up some mean BBQ.
We had such a wonderful day and can't wait to go down there again with Kate. In a few more years she will be able to learn how to ski herself.

Update about Kate:
She is standing really well by herself! Just in a few days she has gotten really good where she will be standing on her own and then rebalances herself and remain standing. Its so fun to see her grow and develop into a little person. Below is a video I tried to get of her doing this.

*does anyone know how to flip a video? or can I not video long ways anymore?

At the Beach With A 9 Month Old

Kate and I are down in Destin again and this time we are with my sister-n-law Amy and my nephew Bryce. We had a very easy trip down (we drove at night while both kiddos were sleeping) and we have been having a blast at the beach. You will have to check out Amy's blog to hear the jackhammering that was going on in the condo RIGHT ABOVE us...thankfully that is all done with. Out of all the condos that could be undergoing construction it had to be the one above a condo with two kids under the age of one that NEED their naps!

My friend Shea gave me the great idea of getting a baby pool for the Kate and Bryce to play in while at the beach. It keeps them occupied and having fun without crawling everywhere in the sand. Kate played like this for hours the first day. The second day she was much more interested in what was outside the baby pool. Here she is sitting and playing nicely in the pool.

Then Kate found the sand and it was all over with.

So why not? I just took her out and let her have at it. She was covered in sand and she ate the sand...yuck! But she was having a blast. Now that she is crawling and pulling up she is everywhere. She has also been standing a lot on her own these past few days which is super exciting! Then the sweetest was when she fell asleep on my chest out at the beach. And for the first time in two days I was actually able to just sit and enjoy the beach!!!!!

I am going to have a post of picture of Kate in her diaper to show you her tan. Her little arms and legs are brown and her creases are stark white...its pretty funny. I am putting 50 SPF on her and reapplying it and she is MUCH more tan now then I will probably be all summer. Its really quite depressing actually that my 9 month child has a better tan than me!!

9 Months Old

Kate turned 9 months old on Monday and today we went for our doctor's visit. Here are her stats:

19 pounds 15 ounces
28 inches long
17 inches head circumference
Here is a list of what all Kate is up to these days:
1. finally got her second bottom tooth
2. crawling all over the place
3. pulling up on anything and everything
4. can stand by herself for a few seconds
5. eating all kinds of people food
6. feeding herself
7. drinking from a sippee cup
8. growing more and more hair
9. can give kisses

I am, however, up to the same old stuff...sewing!! Below is my latest venture. I didn't have a pattern, I traced an outfit that was already made and just figured out how to sew it without directions. I love how it ties in the back!!

My First Time Away From Kate

Well, it was my first weekend away from Kate. Jason and I traveled to Oxford, Mississippi to celebrate his sister, Bry's graduation. We had an absolute blast. I tried unsuccessfully to act like a college student again. Late nights just aren't my thing anymore. We ate a ton of great food and had the best time with Jason's family and all of Bry's friends and their families. Even though I was really fine the whole time without Kate I couldn't wait to get home on Sunday to see her...it made for a sweet Mother's Day to finally see my little girl after 2 days away.
Here I am with Bry before we hit the town the first night.
Here is Jason with his family the day of Bry's graduation from Ole Miss.
While Jason and I were in Oxford, Kate spent the weekend with my parents (Mimi and Pop). I know she had a blast and was probably not very excited to see us because she was having to leave two straight days of constant attention from her Mimi and Pop! Thanks again mom and dad, we really appreciate yall! Here is Kate and Pop feeding the geese in the neighborhood.

And Kate got to go on a walk in the evening with her Pop.
My parents made sure to keep Kate informed about the presidential election and other current affairs. Kate also got in some weight lifting. She could use a little muscle to help fill in those rolls!
In all it was a great weekend. Jason and I had a lot of fun together in Oxford and Kate was spoiled rotten by her Mimi and Pop so you know she had a great weekend!

I Love Doodles!

Those who know me well know that I am obsessed with a place called Doodles. It is a little, family owned place where you can get sorbets and italian ice. They have been around since I was in high school and I just have so many fun memories with friends and such going to Doodles and hanging out and talking there. I have been taking Kate there this spring and she loves Doodles too - a girl after my own heart!!

Seriously...last week Kate could pull up if she tried really hard and it usually took a couple of tries, now just a week later she pops up with no effort and can pull up on anything. It is crazy how fast they learn new motor skills. The cutest and sweetest by far is when I go and get her up from a nap and she is just standing in her bed smiling - I will have to take a picture of that and post it soon.

Thanks Andre for the cute outfit...I just love the shorts on her!

Happy Birthday Mama Dre!

I know I have said this before but I am so thankful that we live in town with both sets of grandparents. I love that Kate gets to see them all the time and will grow up being able to spend so much time with them. Today is Jason's mom's birthday! Happy Birthday Mama Dre!! We love you!
Just a quick update on Kate. She is pulling up with ease and has started stepping sideways while holding onto the furniture!! You were all right when you told me that after she starts crawling things start happening fast!!
