Kate is finally smiling for the camera a lot more, but these cute photos are still few and far between.

every now and then

Most of the time when we take pictures of Kate they look like this...
But every now and then we get sweet pictures like this...
p.s. one day I will figure out how to get rid of the red eyes

Random Happenings

During my pregnancy, after we found out that we were expecting a girl, my mom went and got out all of my dresses from when I was a little girl and gave them to me. I know this picture of us is close up but Kate is wearing one of my dresses and my sweater from when I was a baby.
Kate is getting to an age where she really loves her toys. Most of her toys play some sort of music...I haven't figured out how to put them all away in the basket yet without setting them all off at once.
I know kids like to pick their nose but I didn't realize they started so early.
Just another picture in the snow...I love her cheeks.

Kate's First Snow

Of course we had to go out this morning and take pictures in the snow! It was beautiful to watch it falling. Lucy had a great time running around in it but Kate was pretty clueless.
Here are some pictures of Kate's first snow.

Finished!

I finished smocking Kate's baptism gown yesterday afternoon. If I do say so myself I think it turned out pretty good. I still need to thread a ribbon through the top smocking but I will have to get some help on that. I completely understand that this pictures is hard to see since I smocked cream on white but I thought I would post it anyway for you to see. Now I just have to take the dress to be put together...I am so excited, I never knew smocking could be so much fun.

Love It!

Jason's aunt got me smocking classes for Christmas and I am LOVING it! I am completely obsessed. We started our project last night (I am making Kate's baptism gown) and I am so hooked that with one more hour of smocking I will be done. Here is a picture of me at 7am this morning smocking! I will post a picture when the dress is done!

...and this sweet little face is what got me interested in smocking in the first place!

Guitar Hero

Who knew video games could still be so much fun as adults. Jason and I went over to our friends house tonight who happen to have the vidoe game guitar hero. While Kip grilled out and Lisa cooked in the kitchen, Jason and I fought like little children on who got to play next on the guitar. We had a blast. And if you know anything about Jason and how he does not have one musical bone in his body, he actually impressed me and did very well at the game. I wish I had my camera with us tonight because it was hysterical to see all of us playing video games and our children sitting around watching us act like idiots!

The Birmingham Zoo

For Christmas the Brantley's got us a family membership to the Birmingham Zoo. We first got to use it last week when went to Zoo Light Safari with my family. Below is a picture of us with my brothers and their families.
Kate wasn't so interested in the lights...she slept the majority of the time.
Yesterday, Bry and I took Kate back to the zoo. It was a BEAUTIFUL day and we had a great time. Kate liked the Lions and Tigers part best because all the cats would pace back and forth so she was able to see them and track them.

Here we are at the giraffes
Kate and Aunt Bry after we saw the lions and tigers
We saw bison...since bison are big and brown I explained them to Kate by saying
they were like a gigantic Lucy!

Sitting Up

Last night Kate I were playing on the floor when I noticed that she was basically sitting all by herself. So I backed away slowly and Kate sat there for about 10 seconds. Naturally we got all excited and tried to take pictures of the event...then we got a little over zealous and tried to get some video. Below are the results.

(disclaimer: there was no harming of children during the making of this video...there were no tears or crying even after the face plant into the rug)
