A Few Of Our New Tricks

Kate can now wear dresses. These past two weeks Kate's walking skills have improved to where she hardly ever crawls so now she can wear dresses! (before she would cry when she would crawl and get stuck on her dress so we stuck to two piece outfits or bubbles)
We flipped her car seat around! The first time Kate was in her car seat facing forward she just stared outside and stared at me. I think she was in awe that she could see me the whole time.
Kate also in this past few days can stand up on her own. I just noticed her on Sunday trip when she was walking and then stand herself back up.

And lastly we are working on our top two teeth. One is barely working its way through and the other is about to break through. Needless to say, these past few days haven't been loads of fun!
*see below for open mouth kisses

Open Mouth Kisses

Kate has definitely acquired all of her kissing skills from Lucy. She in constantly now going up to Lucy with her mouth wide open trying to give Lucy kisses. I think its really cute and I finally got it on video. She also loves to hug Lucy which we think is so sweet. You can also see Kate walking at the beginning of the video (please ignore the mismatched pajamas...that was her daddy dressing her for bed!!)

5 Years and Counting!!!!

Happy 5th Anniversary to my husband! Its hard to believe that we have been married 5 years! I am excited for all the years to come because each year keeps getting better and better. I am thankful for all the ways God has blessed our marriage over the years and feel very lucky to be married to such a great man.

And We're Off...

So I think I can officially say that Kate is walking! These past three days she has spent 90% of her time upright. And about the only time she crawls is when she falls/trips and can't stand herself back up. When she walks it is so cute because she can't always walk a straight line...its like she has been drinking too much! I just love watching her walk all over the house. I almost have to do a double take when she rounds the corner and she's not crawling but walking. I guess I need to go get this child some shoes so she can take her skills outside.

A Wooden Pacifier??

There is a puzzle at my mom's house that Kate has always enjoyed playing with. It has larger handles on it so it is easy for Kate to grab the pieces out of the puzzle. Last night however Kate began playing with the puzzle and then decided to put the handle in her mouth. That was cute, but then she continued to keep the handle in her mouth and suck like it was a pacifier...then she proceeded to go all over the house playing with other toys, exploring, etc all with this piece in her mouth. We couldn't stop laughing.

Lucy is such a trooper!

Kate and Lucy constantly crack me up. They are just so cute together. As any of you with pets know, your kids and pets just do the funniest things. Kate now goes up to Lucy with her mouth wide open and her tongue hanging out to get a kiss. And she constantly treats Lucy like a big stuffed animal, just crawling on top of and snuggling with her. Lucy is a perfect playmate and keeps Kate occupied for hours. And not to mention that she is the sweetest dog taking all kinds of abuse from Kate.

This video cracked me up because of Lucy's face at the end. When Kate stands up and hugs Lucy, look at her face. It's like she is saying "excuse me, how much longer do I have to subject myself to this?"

Now, This Is Exciting!!

So I got out the camera to take some video of Kate taking 3-4 steps and this is what I got...

Here is some cute video of her in the bathtub. She loves playing with the water as it is coming out of the spout.

Just Hanging Out

Tonight I had all my high school girlfriends over for dinner and I had asked one of them to take Kate and lay her down so she could drink her bottle. When I came in the room to check on her I found her like this. I thought she looked so cute with her legs all propped up, like she was just hanging out.
Sorry for no new posts lately...nothing really new or exciting has been happening. Point and case this post! :)

We're On Our Way!!

Kate has been able to stand on her own since she was 9 months. She really has great balance, but has never cared to try and walk or put one foot in front of the other. If you held her hands and tried to get her to walk holding onto you she would just plop down on her bottom. This weekend it's like it just "clicked" and Kate will now hold onto your hand and walk and has taken steps unassisted (1-2 steps). So I think we are on our way to walking here soon.

Go-Gurt

Have you seen this stuff? We were down at the river for the Fourth and they had some down there. Basically it is yogurt in a pop-ice type packaging. Kate LOVES it. The problem is that she grabs the tube of yogurt and squeezes and then yogurt goes everywhere!! These pictures don't even do the mess justice. We just stripped her and cleaned her off in the sink when she was done....but most importantly she had a blast eating it.

Me and My Daddy

It has been so much fun to watch Kate and Jason together over the past year. For someone who had never really been around small children before, Jason is a really great dad. I love to watch Kate when Jason walks in the room because she just lights up. It is just such a sweet relationship between a father and a daughter. I am excited about the years to come and watching those two together. And I completely have come to grips that Kate will like Jason better than me!
