Just the last few days around here...

Don't get me wrong, I love reading to Kate...but I am so glad that these days she is also content now to read by herself.
This past weekend was really nice weather here so I had the front door open. But with a dog and small child I had to gate it so they wouldn't go wandering out....Lucy and Kate played and sat by the door the whole time it was open! (and don't worry, we had just spent a whole hour outside playing so it wasn't like I was teasing them with the door open to the pretty weather)

Cleaning Lady

I find myself cleaning up after Kate just because it is easier and so much faster. She knows how to put her toys away (but it is a painfully slow process) and after today I now know that she can help clean the house too. She knocked over my water and it was all over the floor. I gave her some paper towels to help me clean the floor and she did a really good job!

Front Yard Fun!

This weekend Jason got outside and worked on hanging Kate's swing. Of course she loved every minute of it!
Jason hung it with carabeaners so that you can take the swing down if you need to. Notice how Kate is quite confused why 1. she is not swinging anymore and 2. why the swing is not hanging from the tree anymore.
And that is because Jason made a circular seat to attach to the rope for us to swing on! I forgot how much fun it was to swing high in the air! I don't know who will be using this more, Kate or me!

First Home Sewing Project

I made curtains!!! The whole reason I ever wanted to learn to sew was to make things for my home, however, it took having a little girl to actually get me into sewing finally. But a year after I started sewing I have now undertaken the task of making some drapes for our bedroom.

First of all let me tell you that sewing for Kate is easier then sewing these drapes. I realize all I did was sew a rectangle together and tie it up. You are just dealing with so much more fabric and cutting a straight line...well straight is completely relative!! I have also never been so nervous sewing a straight line before. I was just worried about doing something wrong and then could you imagine having to rip out all those stitches?
I turned the kitchen into my sewing room for this project. With so much more fabric being used it was nice to have the extra room.

And wha-la....here are our new drapes in our room. (thank you Kimmie for the inspiration and idea from little Isaac's room)

Kate's Parting Words

Kate is very friendly always telling everyone hello but her send off might not be so sweet. See if you can't tell what she is saying when she tells you goodbye...

I promise she doesn't mean it!!! Insteady of using a "b" for "bye" she uses a "d" and says "die." It is very amusing as she calls out to our friends as they leave, "die, die, die."

McWane Center and Other Fun

This past week Jason and I took Kate to the McWane Center. We got a family pass for Christmas and had never been before. There is tons to do! This place will be really cool for Kate in a few years...but for now its a great place for her to explore and burn off some energy.

Kate doesn't weigh enough yet to make the piano play but that is alright because she enjoyed looking at herself in the mirror a lot more!

There are fun little activity tables that all the kids play at.There is a little water table that Kate LOVED! But we left soon after she poured a whole cup down the front of her.

She wasn't very intrigued by the weather section, she had more fun trying to climb on all the exhibits.

Jason and I had a lot of fun too with all the different things to do there. There is this one game where you try and out run a dinosaur on a bike. Just for future reference, if we are ever being chased by a dinosaur, I was able to out run Jason! Below was of a simulator of hurricane force winds or maybe it was a tornado...anyway, it was very windy!

"Where's Kate??" Kate has loved playing in our kitchen cabinets for forever. Our favorite is peek-a-boo.

We went to the galleria with some friends to ride the carousel. Kate loved watching it go around and around. However when we got on the carousel she did not like it so much and cried the whole time!

I love...

I love little girls in smocked dresses with big bows in their hair. But every now and then a puffy vest and some overalls look just as adorable!

We have had some pretty days here so Kate and I went to the park and she loves the swing just as much as she did when she was little. I thought this was a sweet picture and you can also see her toothy grin!
